So Much to Do, So Little Time...

In recent years, February thru April has been a pretty busy for me, even busier than the summer months. It seems I have a multitude of family, friends & associates - all celebrating birthdays, babies, weddings, new home purchases, so on & so fourth during this time of year (not to mention the fact that my own birthday was yesterday), so keeping track of social events AND work related functions is at times, difficult.

I often struggle finding ways to attend all of the functions I can, but sometimes it's very easy to spread myself too thin, so I've been working on that lately. I never really used the calendar function of any of my previous cell phones much over the years, but I find doing so nowadays is a must to in order to have any shot at keeping my professional/social life in order.

Right now I've got it worked out so that any e-vites, appointments, meeting request, etc. that get sent to my email accts automatically get added to my work calendar & personal calendars, which both sync with my phone. Whenever I'm on the go, I've got an up-to-the-minute listing of all of my appointments readily available. Even the game schedules for my favorite teams are auto-syncing to my main calendar.

In this fast paced, time is money world we live in today, I'm all about consolidation. So any time I'm able to eliminate steps, or make things simpler - I go for it! Hopefully, organizing/auto-syncing my calendars remains a practical step in getting my life better organized. So far it's been very helpful...

Really, What's the Beef???

I'm currently aboard a train departing from Baltimore, heading back to DC after visiting a friend for an evening on the town.

Yesterday afternoon I got a call from her while at work & she suggested that I come up to visit her on the MARC train. So in super-spontaneous fashion I agreed, headed to Union Station straight from my office in Washington, DC bought a commuter ticket & was on my way to Baltimore's Penn Station within minutes!

After some bar hopping we spent some time walking along the pier at Fells Point. The weather was great last night & I had a absolute blast catching up with my old friend - it was the perfect way to kick-off this 4th of July weekend.

I've always enjoyed the city of Baltimore & I've never quite understood the rift between the residents of the DC, B-more & the surrounding suburban areas of both. For whatever reason, the 2 cities refuse to acknowledge 1 another & I've always thought it was a shame to have 2 major cities (separated by only 40 miles) where the locals of each so often fail to take advantage of what both have to offer.

As a lifelong resident of the DC area, I've always found my way back & fourth between the 2 areas & I love the history of both great cities. Just think, if the 2 could get they're acts together & make a realistic pitch to the International Olympic Committee we could bring the Olympics to the area.

Granted, there's always a natural rivalry between any 2 cities so close but, the hate-hate relationship Baltimore & DC seems quite unique in that other competing cities caross the nation seem well aware of the amenities of both & their residents seem to inter-mingle well. Yet when it comes to DC/B-more, that couldn't be further from the truth.

The styles are different & the same goes for the local language/accents used by the natives of each city. But outside of those trivial differences the two cities seem similar in many ways to me, so it baffles me how the 2 cultures haven't merged more (on their own) over the years. For the now, the line drawn between the 2 remains distinct & well defined. I truly hope that changes in the near future - but if not, fuckit more for me. Happy 4th guys, be safe...

Wide Awake...

Ok, here I am wide-awake at 3am (again) with an alarm set to go off at 5:30 - something has gotta give. Lately, I've been keeping the most irregular sleeping hours, chronically waking up late for work & then sleep-walking through the day (an unfocused mess).

Usually when this occasionally happens, things simply fall back into place after a few weeks or so, but it's been a couple months now & the restlessness is beginning to annoy me, quite honestly.

I'm not sure if it's a stress thing, simply alot on my mind, or what? I do know I'm gettin pretty damn close to reaching my breaking point, so I'd better figure something out quick!

Maybe I'm just bored or under-stimulated, who's to say? This Sunday, after the Super Bowl, I'll do my best to get in bed before midnight (in yet another attempt to "reset" my system for the week ahead). Idle hands are indeed the devil's workshop, so hopefully I'm back on track soon.

Until then, I guess it's back to the dvr...

California Love...

So I'm thinkin it's probably time to make this move to L.A. happen if I'm ever gonna do it. I'm single, in the prime of my life and have been in love with the idea of living in L.A. since my very 1st visit as a child. 20+ years later, I'm realizing that there's no better time, but most of all, no one (who couldn't live without me) that I'd be leaving behind.

I've been seriously considering the move for the past 3 years or so, but when the economy hit the shitter, I decided it really wasn't the optimum time for such a change. The economy has since recovered (somewhat), and employers are beginning to hire again, so I'm hoping to find gainful employment someplace and make it happen. I've got family living out in L.A. (which always makes any major move easier) and a small, but established network of friends in the City of Angels.

To top it off, I've already got my eye on a few spots in Baldwin Hills, where my cousin currently lives - so who knows? Maybe next year at some point I'll have an address in L.A. Guess I'll know in the next year or so, but the thoughts of such definitely remain on my mind.

Idk...

Still not a clue as to where I wanna go with this blog. I don't know if I wanna focus on sports, entertainment, music or the 'ultimate excitement' that encompasses me, lol... So I guess you can look for me to wing it for the time being.

Just kickin' things off...

In my never-ending quest for self-understanding & development I decided it's high time I start a blog in an attempt to capture some of my most in-depth thoughts (and probably my most random as well, lls). So standby, I'll begin to add additional content as I become more familiar with the site. In the meantime, I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on. — Winston Churchill
